Description
The genesis of this book is owed to the forward-thinking people at American Psychological Association (APA) Books, especially Susan Reynolds, who recognized a need for such a publication and encouraged its development.
Turning an idea into something real and tangible takes a lot of hard work. This book would not exist were it not for the considerable efforts of the chapter authors. They contributed much time and energy to the careful crafting of their chapters in the service of helping their peers develop a better understanding of pathological narcissism and its treatment. I feel privileged to have benefitted from their experience and wisdom.
In addition to the chapter authors, others had a significant role in this project. The help of my close colleague, David Kealy, was instrumental in the production of this book. Brin Grenyer, another dear colleague, provided sage counsel and helped shape the structure of the book. The patience and encouragement of my family (Jennifer, Mikayla, and Ethan) were crucial for helping this project see the light of day. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to the anonymous reviewers who provided critical commentary on the initial book outline and the preliminary draft of the book. Their comments were influential in the development of the book’s character.
