Description
The 17th International Conference on Nucleation and Atmospheric Aerosols (ICNAA) is held at the National University of Ireland, Galway, from 13 to 17 August 2007. This is the third time the conference is taking place in Ireland. The first ICNAA was held in Dublin in 1955 and the ninth was held in Galway 30 years ago. A short history of ICNAA is found on the following pages.
Since 1988, this series of conferences has been held jointly with the Nucleation Symposia to further strengthen interaction between scientists working in related fields.
At the 17th ICNAA, 245 papers were accepted in the following eleven categories:
■ Nucleation: Experiment and Theory (54 papers)
■ Nucleation: Binary, homogeneous and heterogeneous (14)
■ Nucleation: Ion and cluster properties (13)
■ Ice Nucleation (12)
■ Air Quality – Climate (12)
■ Aerosol–Cloud Interactions (15)
■ Aerosol Characterisation and Properties Aerosols (51)
■ Aerosol Formation, Dynamics and Growth (35)
■ Marine Aerosol Production (16)
■ Remote Sensing of Aerosols and Clouds (10)
■ Chemical Composition and Cloud Drop Activation (13)
Together with the International Advisory Committee, we have identified current topics of high interests and the following leading scientists have accepted Plenary Lecture invitations to present the state of the art in their respective fields of nucleation and atmospheric aerosols: Paul DeMott, Terry Deshler, Maria Cristina Facchini, Markku Kulmala, Surabi Menon, Kikuo Okuyama, Spyros Pandis, V. Ramanathan, Yinon Rudich, Gerald Wilemski, Barbara E. Wyslouzil. As conference chairs, we would like to thank our sponsors and the help of the local organising committee. Welcome to the City of the Tribes – Galway.
