Associated with Chylomicrons-Manifests as Pancreatitis-Eruptive Xanthoma-HSM-Pale Retina (Lipemia Retinalis)-A creamy layer on top of the patient plasma (when incubated)-No increase in LDL activity after heparin)
③Polygenic Hypercholesterolemia: Multifactorial Inheritance-No tendon Xanthoma
Treatment
❶Exclude Secondary causes
❷Diet
Cholesterol
1-Decrease Alcohol intake
2-Decrease simple sugars
3-Regular exercise
4-Avoid drugs that increase TG e.g. Estrogen
5-Increase fish oil intake as it is good source for omega 3 Fatty Acids
Triglycerides
1-Total fat less than 30% of total calories-Saturated fat less that 10% of calories-Cholesterol less than 300 mg per day
2-Replace saturated fat with plant sources such as Canola oil-Olive oil-Peanuts-Avocados
3-Increase intake of soluble fibers
4-Increase intake of Garlic-Soy protein-and Vitamin C (anti oxidant content may decrease cholesterol oxidation)
